Chevy QR Code RPO Decoder for Newer Models
Open the glove box on a late-model Chevrolet and the parts identification label now carries a small QR code alongside the printed option grid. That square encodes the vehicle's identity and factory option content in machine-readable form.
GM added the codes to speed up service. A technician scans the label and pulls the option content without retyping anything, which is faster and less error-prone than reading a wall of three-character codes by eye.
You can scan it yourself with any phone camera. The catch is what comes out: typically the VIN plus a raw run of RPO codes with no descriptions attached to them.
Raw codes are only half an answer. Knowing a truck carries G80 or NHT is useful if you already speak RPO, but most owners need the translation layer.

The two approaches complement each other nicely. The QR scan proves what the label in this physical vehicle says, while the VIN lookup proves what GM's records say the vehicle was built with.
Comparing them is a legitimate inspection technique. A glove box pulled from a donor interior will scan with a different VIN, and that is something to discover before buying, not after.
Not every model cooperates. QR codes appeared on these labels during the 2010s, older vehicles have print-only labels, and a faded or damaged code may not scan at all.
Some scans also disappoint. Depending on the model, the encoded data can be abbreviated, so treat the printed grid and the VIN record as the complete sources.
